Cedaredge is located in north-central Delta County, at the gateway to the Grand Mesa, with hundreds of lakes to fish, renowned snowmobiling trails, and is home to the Powderhorn Ski area. With a population of approximately 2,300 (plus out-of-town residents), it is a vibrant community of longtime locals and newer transplants. The 18-hole Cedaredge Golf Club and its gorgeous neighborhood draw people looking for an active golf lifestyle.
Cedaredge is a Home Rule Municipality, with a population of approximately 2,300. Public facilities feature streets, town parks, a community center, accredited police department, animal control and code enforcement. The Town operates water and sewer operations and an 18 hole golf course.
Businesses
Cedaredge has a full range of businesses and services located in town and nearby, including a post office, library, two banks and a volunteer fire department and ambulance service. Doctor and dentist services, including two medical clinics are available in town, and Delta County Memorial Hospital is only 15 minutes away in Delta. The thriving business community includes restaurants, a convenience store gas station, artisan galleries and an assortment of retail shops. Service providers include plumbers, electricians, heating and cooling specialists and construction companies.
The town is served by three airports. Grand Junction Regional Airport and Montrose Regional Airport provide commercial air service, while Delta County Airport supports private and corporate aircraft. Bus services and Amtrak are available in Grand Junction.
Cedaredge is home to service organizations, including VFW, The Lions, Rotary, American Legion and Habitat for Humanity. Nearly a dozen churches are located in town, with additional churches a short drive away. A food bank is available to community members and senior citizen meals are provided three days a week. Programs for youths include scouts, 4-H, year-round sports leagues and library programs.
Education
Cedaredge is the proud Home of the Bruins. Part of the Delta County Joint School District, Cedaredge is home to a high school, middle school (grades 6 to 8), LEAD certified elementary school and a Vision School similar to a Charter/Home School Program. Pre-school programs are provided by local organizations. Cedaredge High School offers a full range of academic classes, plus band and choir, art, drama, athletics, agriculture, business and extracurricular clubs and activities. With the mission: Caring, Challenging, Learning; Every Student, Every Day, the Cedaredge Middle School provides a full range of academics, athletics and extracurricular activities. Cedaredge Elementary provides a full range K – 5 education, including paraprofessionals, aides, and teachers for special needs students.
The Cedaredge branch of Delta County Libraries maintains a varied collection of books, audio and visual materials, periodicals and downloadable materials. The library provides public access to computers and I-Pads, printers and copiers. ESL and GED classes are available through the library, as well as a schedule of engaging programming for children, teens and adults.
Events and Attractions
Cedaredge Golf Course is a unique 18 hole course, featuring two distinct nines and four tees. Designed for both the occasional player and serious sportsman, the course adapts to any level of play, and the back nine features some of the most difficult golf terrain in Colorado.
Museum and historical village, Pioneer Town, offers visitors the opportunity to step back in time in the museum’s replica of an early 20th century western town, complete with saloon, bank, barber shop and working blacksmith’s shop. Pioneer Town also features a large collection of antique dolls and toys, and the Sutherland Indian Museum, housing one of Colorado’s largest arrowhead collections.
Chapel of the Cross is a prairie-style chapel located on the grounds of Pioneer Town. The Chapel of the Cross Summer Concert Series takes place June through August, and is a popular community event.
The Little Britches Rodeo held every July for boys and girls ages 8 – 18, includes a variety of events including Bull Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Breakaway Roping, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Polebending, Girls Goat Tying, plus the crowd favorite Mutton Busting for 4 – 8 year olds.
Held the first weekend of October, Applefest brings the town alive with food, music, art, and apples! The festival includes a classic car show, over 150 booths and vendors, a chili cook-off to benefit the Cedaredge Volunteer Fire Department, and Cedaredge’s social event of the year, the Golden Gala, a fun-filled evening of food, drink, music and dancing.
