Orchard City is comprised of three communities – Austin, Cory and Eckert, that came together in the early 20th century to form the municipality. Centrally located in Delta County, it provides easy access to all of the towns and attractions in the area. Orchard City retains its historic charm and economic base as a fruit-growing community.
Orchard City is a widely dispersed town with a population of over 2,000. Its proximity along Hwy. 65 positions it well for commuting and country living. The annual Eckert Crane Days celebrates the spectacular annual migration of thousands of Sandhill cranes that stop at Fruitgrowers Reservoir at Hart’s Basin.
Orchard City is a Statutory Town with a population of over 2,000. The town is served by three post offices, for the three towns that united to become Orchard City, and maintains the local water department, town park, roads, building department and town clerk.
Business services, banks and restaurants are available in the nearby towns. Orchard City is part of the Delta County Ambulance District, and Delta County Memorial Hospital is a short drive away. Students may attend any of the Delta County Schools through the open enrollment program, and library access is available in five of the nearby towns.
